D magazine’s best new restaurants celebration scenes

Tuesday, December 7 D Magazine celebrated the city’s best new restaurants of 2021, featured in the December issue. The exclusive festivities, which brought together 175 passionate foodies for a 10-course sit-down dinner, took place at On The Levee in the Dallas Design District, with a portion of the proceeds going to Café Momentum.

The guests appreciated the remarks of D Magazine editor-in-chief Kathy Wise, food critic Eve Hill-Agnus and editor-in-chief of online catering Rosin Saez. The evening witnessed the fearless spirit of the restaurants that have been honored for 2021. “Opening a restaurant during a pandemic is ridiculous, courageous and empowering,” Hill-Agnus said. “This is why these 12 restaurants are linked together in a cohort like no other, each a miracle, collectively a group that has meant more than restaurants ever have.”

The meal included dishes from 10 of the winners of 2021 Best New Restaurants: Suburban Yacht Club, Rye, Monarch, Ayahuasca Cantina, Roots Southern Table, Terra at Eataly Dallas, Soul, Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen, Sister and Meridian, the restaurant of the year . In addition to savoring a signature bite from each restaurant, guests learned about each restaurant and the dish highlighted by the star chefs.

Co-organizers El Tesoro and Maker’s Mark presented special cocktails, some of which are associated with individual lessons. Main sponsor, Park Place Dealerships, showcased two luxury vehicles that turn heads outside the venue, while inside, Reddy Vineyards served their award-winning Texas wines. Event partners Marquee Event Rentals, EZ Party Time and AP Magic also helped set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
