Last week we released the Gear of the Year winners for Public Courses. Today we share the winners of private clubs.
Entries were judged on how well the addition achieved its goals, as well as aesthetics and financial benefits. Judges for the event included Golf Inc. editors; Casey Paulson, President of Sales and Operations at Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club, winner of the 2015 Golf Inc. Development of the Year award; and Darryl Bartlett, Senior Project Manager at NMP Golf Construction.
FIRST PLACE

Reynolds Lake Oconee-Richland Pointe
Greensboro, Ga.
When this master-planned resort community began developing a prime peninsula into a lakeside residential project several years ago, the property envisioned a place with a unique community within a community where a generation active members could congregate and enjoy a host of new and distinctive outdoor lifestyle and fitness-oriented amenities.
Designed by Kuo Diedrich Chi Architects, the new 11,000 square foot wellness and fitness center at Reynolds Lake Oconee-Richland Pointe is highlighted by five well-appointed group treatment/exercise rooms, equipment Technogym Biocircuit, a yoga lawn and an overflow space. relaxation pool for adults. The new 35-acre village was designed with elements of outdoor living, casual living and high-tech indoor wellness. The interior design was done by AI3.
As of July 2021, approximately 20% of Silver-level members have upgraded their plans to Platinum to access this new lifestyle and wellness village, representing an initiation fee increase of $30,000 $60,000 for Platinum status.

SECOND PLACE
Aptitude
Country Club of the Rockies
Edwards, Col.
With multiple outdoor facilities, ranging from clay and hard courts to a groomed trail for cross-country skiing/snowshoeing and world-class golf, the Country Club of the Rockies needed to continue to develop year-round opportunities for his members. To achieve this goal, the entire clubhouse has been renovated to include a new health and fitness center, which opened in June 2021.
Designed by Marsh and Associates, the tiered health and fitness addition includes a flexible lower-level exit area for strength training, which sits next to a yoga and aerobics studio . Modern cardio equipment is positioned on the upper level along large windows spanning the three exterior walls, offering views of the golf course and mountainous terrain.
Renovated locker rooms and lounges for men and women are conveniently located on the upper level.
The design team sought to brighten up the spaces and seamlessly integrate the addition into the aesthetic of the existing mountain style lodge.
In just a few months, the club has seen tremendous success, including a six to seven year waiting list for membership, membership fees reduced from $95,000 to $150,000, and a record number of rounds played in 2021.

BigHorse
Hampden, Mass.
The vision behind The New Lodge, a new guest house from GreatHorse, was to create accommodation with upscale amenities to entertain its members, from private and elegant dinner parties to quaint birthday celebrations.
The communal kitchen and living room were built as a socializing center for the New Lodge, which opened in August 2021.
All four bedrooms can be booked together so larger groups can have private rooms to sleep in but can spend time together in the shared kitchen and living room. Members are not required to book the entire facility if they don’t need it, so they have the option of booking equipment per room.
Designed by TMS Architects with interior design by Fran Antonacci, The New Lodge measures over 4,000 square feet and mirrors the features of the main clubhouse, including large exposed beams within, and walls and columns of towering stone exterior.
GreatHorse has seen an increase in revenue and membership since adding The New Lodge. Occupancy rates average 84% on weekends and 65% on weekdays.

The Landings Club
Savannah, Ga.
The goal of the golf-centric club was to ensure that its sporting members felt just as valued as its golfing members.
The Landings Club project called for a complete renovation of the Franklin Creek Sports Complex, including a new roof, awnings, awnings, and the creation of a players’ lounge.
Completed in April 2021, it is unrecognizable from its former self, bringing new life to the tennis, pickleball and pétanque courts.
Clinic sales and revenue increased by 22.6% from 2020 to 2021. The petanque league grew from 150 to 750 players and the pickleball league from 30 to 120 players.

Montclair Golf Club
West Orange, New Jersey
Last summer, Montclair Golf Club opened a new resort-style pool with a deck and splash area, as well as a new paddle sports complex and six Har-Tru clay tennis courts. state-of-the-art with HydroCourt underground irrigation. system.
The designers, Hart Howerton Artchitects and Angela Grande Design, wanted to improve the experience of arriving at the club, while making the tennis and pool more accessible to members, by adding dedicated parking areas.
The club sold 120 new memberships during the 2021 season, with record rounds, food and drink revenue and member attendance, club officials said.

Bay Harbor Yacht Club
Bay Harbor, Mich.
To provide additional amenities during the winter months, the Bay Harbor Yacht Club renovated its Fitness and Wellness Center, which reopened in November 2020.
Peacock + Lewis converted the men’s and women’s locker rooms into a spa. The existing unused hallway has been converted into an area for gathering before and after class, and for displaying and selling fitness items. A golf simulator has been added and is booked daily, club officials said.
The project features over 2,000 square feet of fitness space and the latest developments in exercise equipment.
Since the redesign, 40% of members have become regular users, and this percentage is expected to increase.
