By which Spain gave Puerto Rico or leave it removed from the Americans in the Spanish American War?

Some say that Puerto Ricans were rescued from the Spanish for the Americans but the reality is different that what they have done is take advantage of them and what better example to what happened with Vieques and Puerto Rican veterans that are destroyed. ..

As Americans said “ameriaca for Americans” and were heard. The idea was to end with the colonies, or at least the Europeans left in peace to America.PS: The only time you hear the term “Americans” using it for the whole continent by an American.

U.S. support for Cuba to be separated from Spain and as payment of this support has been annexed to Puerto Rico as a commonwealth. This caused quite a stir in Europe and was one of the sources or flags of the 98 generation, a literary movement that influences the Spanish and Latin American life. At present Borincanos are second-class citizens: they have duties but no rights are enforced.

Spain was already weakened financially by a war of more than 40 years in Cuba, and will want to intervene in the U.S., near the end when Cubans and had won, was that Spain surrendered, and one of the points I demand the surrender to the Americans, was the sale of Puerto Rico, so happened to be part of them.

On the war of independence of Cuba, says otherwise, that the United States wanted the domain of Cuba, but Cubans were not allowed to intervene in their fight for independence, eventually the Americans to intervene to anchor a ship very large and Cuban port oh coincidence!, once the superiority of the ship had gone down and no major head was above the ship, only subordinates, this burst, (used the old trick that we would see repeated many times later) and good “who of course would be to blame?, according to the State Statians was Spain, so this” attack “and gave them the justification to intervene saying they were defending the Spanish aggression, which did not require and Cuban permission as their intervention fully justified according to them estasba finally took his hand was not that good girl supporters, wanted to intervene to get cut. Never give stitch without hilo.Luego other often used this ploy to justify wars and invasions. The difference is that now nobody cree.Y Puerto Rico, was part of that slice.

I’ll tell you a legend with an air of reality. When Spain signed on 10 December 1898 the Peace Treaty the plenipotentiaries of the United States were headed by William R. Day and Spain by Senate President Eugenio Montero Rios, born in Santiago de Compostela, lawyer and politician who passed from Republican to monarchy, speedily. No politician in active wanted to accept the bitter swill of signing a peace treaty that was actually a surrender to a resounding defeat. The country was under the impression of having lost their colonies and no navy. Montero accepted the parcel and sat down to negotiate anything, because nothing was as negotiate unless the transfer of power. But legend has it that when she had agreed all matters relating to Cuba and the Philippines and Day had already been raised, Montero could not think of anything better to ask what about Puerto Rico? Day then sat down again saying “Puerto Rico as well.” Is not in vero e ben trovato

I think it was the best thing that could happen to Puerto Rico …. because as I cry now …. all rotten luck ran Spanish colonies to conquer Spain ………… control to all the thugs who had held, which came to abuse women, to impose tricks and habits, we stole all their wealth to America and then left adrift: while the Dutch colonies, British and American, were sheltered not screwed by the colonizers …………………

Spain did not “given” Puerto Rico.U.S. lost the war when you lose a war and take away the territories they claim. If you pull your army and get theirs, they put their laws, it’s that simple. And so America is left with Puerto Rico and Cuba as its protectorates. The “rescue” … Well, always when a country invades another says that the “free” or something similar. History is written by the winners.

The 1898 Treaty of Paris signed on December 10, 1898, ended the Spanish-American War. The United States paid Spain $ 20 million for possession of Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines to think freely fought colonial rule in the United States in the Filipino-American war. Puerto Rico and Guam also came under American control, and Spain relinquished its claims to Cuba and declared independence. The loss ended the Spanish empire and marked the beginning of a period of U.S. colonial rule.Without the presence of representatives of the Cuban people, on December 10, 1898 was signed in Paris the Treaty of Peace between Spain and the United States of America, which ended the war. Began an uncertain period in the history of Cuba, without the island was, to say the Generalissimo Máximo Gómez, “yet neither independent nor free.”The real danger of annexation and the possible loss of national identity were, from all points clear. Gone was a history full of setbacks, points, searches of nationalism, and the fair and final flowering of the Cuban nation. Also left behind a colonial relationship of four centuries, rather than promote Indian development, had become his brake, and, as an inheritance, a society decimated, starved, with a distorted socio-economic structure, characterized by the mono- production, export and mono-mono-market, the solution would remain pending. The new historical period would be given adequate response to an inescapable debt mambisas heroic. Fortunately, a beautiful historical legacy would be in place: the failure of concrete ideal embodied national liberation did not mean the disappearance of an ideological body, on the contrary, the uncertain domestic political situation would reinforce. The people of Cuba would be in the first U.S. intervention, from January 1899, with a historical and ideological that prevent their removal by foreign occupiers, despite the efforts made by the Americans for this purpose. The final battle for national independence and the full assumption of sovereignty dreamed four generations of Cubans, from Felix Varela to José Martí, were not in any way lost. He was simply postponed.

Americans are all live on the continent of America, U.S. is a better term.Spain did not allow himself to remove PR, by then the Spanish and had at least two centuries had weakened but managing to keep some settlements in America, United States, sought and invented the attack on the battleship Maine. They needed a real reason to attack Spain and what better reason that the collapse of its acorazadoen the Cuban coast by the Spanish. And since then, unfortunately (in my opinion) PR is the only Latin American country, not independent.
